A trip to Glen Rose

We made a quick trip to Glen Rose to the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. The boys had a great time and loved that the animals ate out of their hands. Garrett was a little freaked by the ostrich who was pecking at his window but was thrilled to be there. We later went to the river and searched for dinosaur tracks at Dinosaur Valley State Park. Everyone was exhausted after the trip.

Young Love?

The little girl who lives behind us seems to be climbing her fence lately and asking for Cole alot. I have asked him if she is his girlfriend and he says "no mom, she is only in second grade". I have noticed that he straightens his hair and checks himself in the mirror before he comes out to see her. We are in the process of putting in a pool and I mentioned to Cole that she might like to come over and he said "I hope so!".

Garrett

Now for my "Big G". Jason and I were shocked when we found out that I was pregnant again. We had almost given up on having another baby. Garrett came out screaming and full of attitude. This has not changed. Garrett - We absolutely adore you. You are the linebacker of the family and walk around like you are in charge. I tease Jason and say that you got "Daddy's temper". You love to wrestle with Cole and Cole is so very protective of you. Cole says that you are going to be a UFC (Ultimate Flighter Club) champ and I might possibly agree. You have absolutely no fear which worries me to death. You still love to "snuggle" me and I hope you don't grow out of this too soon. We laugh because you never walk anywhere and are always running. You are so independent, but I can tell that you listen to every word Cole tells you. My biggest hope is that you and Cole are the best of friends. I love you so much!

Cole

Let's start off with Cole. (I would download pictures, but have been trying for the last 6 hours to figure this out. I will have to wait until my computer savy co-workers have time to help me out). Cole has the sweetest disposition. He sneaks in hugs when he is certain that none of his friends are around. Cole is a combination of both Jason and myself. He is mild mannered like me, and plays by all of the rules like Jas. He will follow word for word what he is told to do and will always follow directions. Cole values our opinions and always works so hard to please us. He is a perfectionist like his daddy. Cole is still afraid to let his personality shine. I can tell he is getting ready to come out of his shell. This makes me a little bit nervous, but very excited. Cole has been playing baseball since he was 5 years old. He is a natural at this. Last year Jason got onto him for not throwing the ball as hard as he could. When I asked him why is was not doing his best he replied, "because I am afraid the other kids will not catch the ball and I will hurt them". What I love most about Cole is that he is usually thinking about other's feelings before his own. Cole was born a ladies man. He has always had a "girlfriend" since he was 3 years old. He got braces on a couple of months ago and said "now how am I going to get a serious girlfriend with these braces on". The other night I asked Cole what he is going to be when he grows up and said that he would like to be a comedian. I told him that he would be really good at this as he always has me and Jason laughing. He said, "but mom, I need you to know that most good comedians say cuss words and I will probably have to do this at some point". He went on to ask, "at what age will you let me start cussing". I told him when he is 30. He actually seemed ok with t his answer.

The beginning...

I know, I know, I know... Alissa is finally starting a blog. I have been stalking other blogs for months and have finally thrown in the towel. The thing that sold me is that I can do this for my two boys since I can't seem to keep up with my scrapbooking anymore. I guess I should start by saying that I am the mother of two of the most amazing boys in the world, Cole who is 9 and Garrett who is 4. Being a mom is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I am also a wife to the most doting husband. Jason and I have been married for 13 years. It was love at first sight for both of us and somehow I seem to fall more in love with him each day. God has truly blessed me with my family. I am also a registered nurse. I work the night shift in the Neonatal ICU unit. I have been in this unit basically since graduating college and have made the best of friends who have become family to me. God knows I could not have created this blog without their help. I have to admit I have a lot of catching up to do. I swear my scrapbooking ended the day my second son Garrett was born (don't worry, I won't go back 4 years). Also, if you see misspelled words or improper grammar please understand that I am usually updating this at work in the middle of the night or, if you know me well enough, I usually speak with improper grammar anyway. OK, here we go!
